A co-payment is an amount that you're responsible for in the event of a claim or visit to doctor, facility or hospital that may be a fixed amount or percentage. This is the amount you pay out-of-pocket, and insurance covers the remainder through your Medicare Benefits.
Knowing how to navigate Medicare and things such as deductibles, co-payments and maximum out of pocket limits are key to knowing how you are covered annually. Remember, Medicare resets every January 1st with opportunity to make changes from October 15th to December 7th.
